HEBREW - SONS OF GOD STUDY
This study was done to see what the phrase “sons of God” means in the original languages. In some instances sons of God would be “children” of God. Jesus was the first one to introduce that concept of God as “Father.” (Which got him killed, by the way.) That is why in the New Testament, the phrase, “sons of God” means “children of God” i.e. sons and daughters or “offspring” of God. However it had a different meaning in the Old Testament. These so called “sons of god” could actually have sexual relations with human women and produce children.
Job 38:4‑7 - Where wast thou when I laid
the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. [5] Who hath laid the measures thereof, if
thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? [6] Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid
the corner stone thereof; [7] When the
morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for
joy?
Sons - (note this includes daughters) ben,
bane, Hebrew 1121; from Hebrew 1129 (banah); a son (as a builder of
the family name), in the widest sense (of literal and figurative
relationship, including grandson, subject, nation, quality or
condition, etc., [like Hebrew 1 ('ab), Hebrew 251 ('ach), etc.]) :- +
afflicted, age, [Ahoh] [Ammon-] [Hachmon-] [Lev-]ite, [anoint-]ed one,
appointed to, (+) arrow, [Assyr-] [Babylon-] [Egypt-] [Grec-]ian, one born,
bough, branch, breed, + (young) bullock, + (young) calf, × came up in, child, colt, × common, × corn, daughter, × of first, + firstborn, foal, +
very fruitful, + postage, × in, + kid, + lamb, (+) man, meet, + mighty, +
nephew, old, (+) people, + rebel, + robber, × servant born, × soldier, son, + spark, + steward, + stranger, × surely,
them of, + tumultuous one, + valiant[-est], whelp, worthy, young (one), youth.
of God - 'elohiym, el-o-heem', Hebrew 430;
plural of Hebrew 433 ('elowahh);
gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus,
especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of
deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative :- angels, × exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), × (very) great, judges,
× mighty.
Notice that
“god-dess” is also used.
Here
are all the other instances of the use of this phrase “sons of god” in
the Old Testament. Every instance of the use of this phrase has the exact same
meaning in the Hebrew as above. sons = “ben, bane” and of god =
“elohiym.”
Genesis 6:2 - That the “sons of god” (sons of
the elohiym) saw the daughters of men
that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Genesis 6:4 - There were giants (nefilim or those who came down from
above) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the (sons of the elohiym) came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them,
the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Daughters
is the same word as Sons = “ben, bane” but “of men” means:
Of men - 'adam,
aw-dawm', Hebrew 120; from Hebrew 119 ('adam); ruddy, i.e. a human being (an
individual or the species, mankind, etc.)
:- × another, + hypocrite, + common sort, × low, man (mean, of low degree), person.
So
you can see that there is a difference here in the “sons of god” (or the
Elohiym) and the “daughters of men” or (human women.) In fact there was a difference in the sons of Elohiym
and mankind although there had to be some similarities or they would not have
been able to produce other human beings.
Job 1:6 - Now
there was a day when the “sons of god” (or the Elohiym)
came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also
among them.
Job 2:1 - Again
there was a day when the “sons of god” (or the Elohiym)
came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also
among them to present himself before the LORD.
sat*an, saw-tawn', Hebrew 7854; from
Hebrew 7853 (sat*an); an opponent; especially (with the article prefixed) Satan,
the arch-enemy of good :- adversary, Satan, withstand.
So Satan was definitely one of the sons of the Elohiym according to all these scriptures and according to the original Hebrew word meanings.

for we shall see him as he is.
